Steam and hydronic piping grows considerably when going from ambient to operating temperature. If not properly resolved, this expansion can cause over-stressed pipe joints, failed pipe hangers and problems with rotating equipment.

This course covers estimation of pipe growth and methods to handle it in the design phase. Topics include use of natural pipe flexibility, piping off-sets, pipe loops, and properly applied expansion devices. It also covers proper pipe anchoring and guiding.
