Session B: Design of Indoor Sumps and Associated Pumping Considerations

  • Need for indoor sumps and sizing thereof
  • Proper sump design to ensure air release and unencumbered flow to all pumps
  • The role of proper submergence to avoid “vortexing”
  • Pump selection: The role of entrained and dissolved air in pump performance degradation and steps to avoid/account for it.
  • Proper suction piping
